Memoria/ Memory
Story telling video
A passion project that uses visuals to tell a short story from my mom's childhood.
This is a short animation done to an audio recording of my mom telling me a memory she had from when she was little. The goal was to accuractly represent the simplicity of the audio while being able to capture the audience with the visuals.
Concept/Moodboard
When I asked my mom to tell her story, I initially asked her to do it in English. When we started to do the first version, I realized she was getting nervous of making a mistake, so I asked if she wanted to tell it in Spanish, her mother tongue, to be more comfortable.

Style Frames
While listening to the audio, I realized the simplicity of the situation; a mother telling her daughter a memory from her childhood. I used the simplicity as my key guide to create the style frames. I incorporated light colored muted tones, simple shapes, and black and white images that would support the story line.

Finale
The animation style needed to match the rawness and dream like of the audio, so i went with a style that was more abrupt movements, and make it look like stop motion.
